Energy efficient lighting: Tips on how to use
more energy efficient lighting will be the focus
of a meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Cornell University.
"The point of this is to increase the energy
efficient lighting in households in New York and
to reduce energy usage," said Carole Fisher,
community educator with the Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Tompkins County.
The New York State Energy Research and Development
Authority and Cornell Cooperative Extension are
working together to offer the first in a series
of Energy Town Meetings. The energy efficient
lighting meeting is part of a distance-learning
event that will link 10 sites in a discussion
about energy efficiency.
Discussions are expected to focus on the basics
of energy efficient lighting, including what lights
to use in various rooms and applications in a
home, the value of the ENERGY STAR label on products
and the impacts it can have on the environment.
Joe Laquatra, professor at Cornell University
and Susan Sowek, senior project manager for the
Residential Energy Affordability Program, are
expected to be presenters at the energy efficient
lighting event on Cornell University campus.
