divisions won the prestigious DOE/EPA ENERGY STAR
Partner of the Year Award for outstanding contributions
to environmental protection and energy efficiency
in the manufacturing of high-efficiency household
appliances and lighting products.
GE Consumer & Industrial is strongly committed
to producing high-quality products that help preserve
the environment and help consumers save on operating
costs. GE invested over $26 million in 2003 alone
and now offers over 420 appliance and 163 lighting
products that are ENERGY STAR-qualified. Since
2001, GE Consumer & Industrial has invested
over $500 million in high-efficiency products.
· 110 ENERGY STAR-qualified dishwashers.
Models introduced this year include an optimized
dishwasher cycle design that delivers the best
wash and sound performance and uses a minimum
of 25% less energy than standard models.
· 247 ENERGY STAR-qualified refrigeration
models. Models include the popular Arctica™
refrigerators with advanced CustomCool™
refrigeration technology.
· 25 ENERGY STAR-qualified clothes washer
models. Innovations like a new agitatorless washer
that uses 47% less energy; a dryer which saves
22% in dry time over it's closest competitor;
and the patented ExtrAction™ basket that
removes up to 24% more water than smooth baskets,
have not only helped consumer save on energy costs
but take better care of their clothes.
· In 2003 GE introduced 27 new ENERGY
STAR-qualified lighting products including 15
compact fluorescent products, eight traffic light
modules and four light fixtures.
· A GE 42-watt spiral lamp was introduced
for the first time in 2003 to replace a 150-watt
incandescent lamp with a life of 10,000 hours.
· 85% of GE Compact Fluorescent products
are ENERGY STAR-qualified.
GE has worked closely with DOE officials to develop
new and revised ENERGY STAR product categories
and has advocated adopting more stringent specification
levels and implementation schedules. GE has also
aggressively supported the ENERGY STAR program
through broad consumer and customer education
and has participated in national and regional
events promoting ENERGY STAR products to consumers,
dealers and homebuilders.
