Discount outdoor light fixtures that are attached
to a home's exterior walls should be an attractive
style suited to the home's architecture, but those
discount outdoor light fixtures should be as fuss-free
as possible.
You probably don't want to spend your time climbing
a ladder, unscrewing exterior lamps and replacing
four candle bulbs every few months. Neither do
you want discount outdoor lighting fixtures that
funnel in dirty rain water, thus streaking the
glass panes as often as spring showers and summer
thunderstorms come along.
So whether you're constructing a new home or
replacing a few discount outdoor lighting fixtures,
it pays to shop carefully. Remember that looks
alone won't cut it if the exterior fixtures are
too much trouble to maintain or if they don't
cast enough light or if their finish will "weather"
all too soon.
Mother Nature is relentless, so despite what
manufacturers' tags claim, shiny brass lanterns
won't remain shiny, black finishes eventually
become charcoal and white porcelain-like fixtures
attract black dirt. The white ones are washable,
though, and weather well the longest, in my experience.
Verdigris or copper discount outdoor lighting
fixtures I haven't tried because they don't suit
my house. I generally do stick to one fixture
design in various sizes to light up the front,
back and side doors, though exact matches are
not necessary from location to location. These
are in addition to floodlights and in-ground discount
lighting fixtures.
